Bath Planet Ottawa renovates bathrooms in Gloucester and Alta Vista, including many original bathrooms that have never been fully redone. We replace old tubs, tile and fixtures with safer, easy-clean showers and baths, working back to the studs. Jeff Billard, the owner, does every consult in person, free of charge.

The original bathroom, decades later

Alta Vista and many parts of Gloucester are established neighbourhoods, and it's common for us to walk into a bathroom that has had a new vanity or a coat of paint, but never a full renovation. The tile may be original. The tub may be the one the house came with. And the plumbing behind it is anyone's guess until the wall comes off.

That's exactly why we don't do cover-ups. We take the walls back to the studs, check the plumbing, and rebuild with new drywall and waterproofing before installing new Bath Planet acrylic walls.

Three common projects here

1. Tub to walk-in shower

The single most requested change. No more stepping over a tub wall. Learn about tub-to-shower conversions, which start at $7,499.

2. Replacing a tiled shower stall

Old tiled showers can be hard to keep clean and may hide moisture. A shower replacement swaps them for smooth acrylic walls and a new glass door.

3. Adding support for aging in place

Grab bars, a seat and a handheld shower, chosen to look good. If an occupational or physiotherapist has made recommendations, bring them to the consult. See accessible bathrooms.

Working in an occupied home

We know you're living in the house while we work. Melissa plans the schedule with you ahead of time, including any water or power interruptions. Our crew cleans up every time, and most installs are done in 2 to 7 days.

Serving Gloucester and Alta Vista

Gloucester was its own city until it joined Ottawa in 2001, and today it takes in a wide area of the east and south, from Blossom Park to Blackburn Hamlet. Alta Vista and Elmvale Acres sit closer to the core. We serve all of these communities, as well as neighbouring Orléans and the rest of Ottawa.

Frequently asked questions

My bathroom is original. Is it worth renovating?

If the tile, tub or plumbing are original, a renovation is usually the right time to deal with all of it at once. Jeff will tell you honestly what he sees at the consult.

Can I use my bathroom during the renovation?

There will be some interruptions to water and power during certain phases. We plan them with you in advance and keep them as short as we can.

Do you replace old tiled shower stalls?

Yes. We remove the tile and walls back to the studs and install a new acrylic shower with a glass door. Our shower renovations start at $8,999.

Do you work with occupational therapists?

Yes. We work with occupational and physiotherapists to make sure grab bars and seats are placed where you need them.

What areas of Gloucester do you serve?

All of them, including Alta Vista, Elmvale Acres, Blossom Park, Hunt Club, Blackburn Hamlet and nearby communities.
