If you live in Kanata and your bathroom is dated, hard to clean or harder to step into, Bath Planet Ottawa can help. We're a family-run company that does tub-to-shower conversions, shower and tub replacements, accessibility upgrades and full renovations. Jeff Billard, the owner, does every in-home consult himself, free of charge.

Kanata homes, old and new

Kanata's original neighbourhoods have been around for decades, and newer subdivisions keep going up. That means we see two common situations. In older homes, the bathroom is often original or was refreshed long ago, and it's time to see what's behind the walls. In newer homes, the bathroom is fine structurally, but the owners want a walk-in shower instead of a tub, or a better shower than the builder installed.

What "no cover-ups" means for you

It's tempting to choose the fastest fix, like a liner over the tub or panels over the tile. The trouble is, you never find out what's under there. We remove the old walls down to the studs, check the plumbing and framing, and put in new drywall and waterproofing. If there's a problem, it gets fixed now instead of years from now.

Choosing your finishes

This is the fun part, and Melissa enjoys helping with it. Bath Planet acrylic walls come in many patterns and colours, and they're backed by a limited lifetime warranty. We use:

• Moen faucets, shower heads and handheld showers
• Fleurco frameless glass doors and bathtubs
• Invisia grab bars and accessories that double as shelves and towel bars

Planning ahead

Many people renovate once and want the room to work for the next 20 years. Even if nobody needs a grab bar today, we can add blocking in the walls or choose a low-threshold shower base so it's easy to add support later. Our accessible bathrooms page explains the options.

Serving Kanata and the west end

Kanata is in Ottawa's west end. We also work in neighbouring Stittsville, as well as Carp, Dunrobin and further west in Carleton Place and Almonte. For the rest of the city, see Ottawa bathroom renovations.
