Shower Replacement in Ottawa

A shower replacement swaps a dated, cramped or hard-to-clean shower for a new one with smooth acrylic walls, a new base, fixtures and a glass door. Bath Planet Ottawa removes the old shower back to the studs, fixes what's behind it and installs a shower with no grout lines to scrub. Shower renovations start at $8,999, and most installs take 2 to 7 days.

Signs it's time to replace your shower

  • Grout that stays dark or moldy no matter how much you clean
  • Cracked, stained or yellowed fiberglass
  • Loose tiles, soft spots or recurring leaks
  • A cramped stall or a shower door with dirty, hard-to-clean tracks
  • No safe place to hold on or sit down

Any one of these is worth a look. Several together usually mean the shower is past the point where repairs make sense.

Why we replace instead of cover

When a shower has had moisture problems, the damage is often behind the walls, not on the surface. Covering it with panels hides the problem. We remove the old walls and base completely, check the plumbing and framing, and rebuild with new drywall and waterproofing. Our certified plumbers and electricians make sure everything is done safely and to code.

What you get

  • Bath Planet acrylic walls with no grout lines, in a wide choice of patterns and finishes, backed by a limited lifetime warranty
  • A new shower base, with low-threshold options if you want an easier step-in
  • Moen fixtures, including handheld showers
  • Fleurco glass doors that glide smoothly, with no dirty tracks to clean
  • Optional built-in seating and Invisia grab bars or shelves

Acrylic or tile?

Most of our clients choose acrylic because it's easy to clean and low maintenance. Three acrylic panels can give you the look of a tiled wall without dozens of grout lines. That said, we also do custom tile, and some people mix the two: acrylic walls in the shower and tile on the floor. Either way, it's properly waterproofed.

Have a tub instead?

If your shower is part of a tub, a tub-to-shower conversion may be the better fit. If safety is a priority, see accessible and aging-in-place bathrooms.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a shower replacement cost in Ottawa?

Our shower renovations start at $8,999. The price depends on the size of the shower and the options you choose, and you'll get a written quote after a free consult.

How long does a shower replacement take?

Most of our installs are completed in 2 to 7 days, depending on the scope.

Is acrylic better than tile for a shower?

Acrylic has no grout lines, so it's easier to clean and less prone to mold in corners. Tile offers more custom design. We install both.

Can you make my shower bigger?

Often, yes, depending on the layout of your bathroom. Jeff will look at your space at the consult and tell you what's possible.

Do you put panels over my old tile?

No. We remove the old walls back to the studs and rebuild with new drywall and waterproofing.
